The Footes visit

One thing LeeAnn and I love the most is visitors! And lucky for us our brother Gordon brought his whole family to visit. We had such a great time! We went to Sedona the first day and played so hard we completely wore ourselves out. We did some hiking, a picinic, shopping, Slide Rock and cliff jumping. The bumm train

We spent some time at Grandma's cabin after the funeral services - BEAUTIFUL fun!

My Grandma, Beverly Joy Evans. My memories with her include....Many summer days in her cabin in the mountains, being thirsty in the back of the car and Grandma Evans reaching her empty hand back to me and saying, "would you like a little bit of lemonade?", going to her condo in the avenues with my cousins and having sleepover party's in the basement, swimming in her pool, playing with her dolls and dress ups, her singing "Let us all speak kind words to each other", always quoting poetry, eating wheat checks at her house for breakfast, her visiting me at the hospital and making me a sweater, going to stay at her house with my friends while in college, going to lunch with her while I visited, having her at Mom and Dad's cabin, her getting a ride on the jet ski with Dad. She was one of a kind...AlWayS optimistic, she was the first in her family to join the church and because of her testimony has blessed the lives of many generations, she served on the relief society board for many years and also as a counselor in the general relief society presidency to Sister Windsor, she served 3 missions one with Grandpa in Tennessee and 2 temple missions without him in England and then the Phillipeans, She never complained, and was always giving. I feel blessed to be one of her 39 grandchildren. On July 5, 2011 she passed away from bone cancer. All of her children were with her. And I know Grandpa David Cannon Evans along with her 3 babies that left this earth before her were waiting for her arrival to them. The funeral was bittersweet with a joyous reunion of family and close friends celebrating her life. We had a viewing on Sunday night the first hour was for family and general authorities only. Because of her service in the church she was friends with many general authorities it was a neat experience to get to meet so many of them. Monday morning was the funeral all of her grandchildren sang together, all of her children spoke about her, Elder Nelson, Elder Oaks and President Monson all spoke as well. President Monson also came to the burial site with the family after and it was touching to have him there and watch the young children gather around him to hug him (and for Macie and Georgia get a kiss on the head) and get their pictures taken with him. It reminded me of the Savior calling for the children to come to Him. I'm so grateful for my testimony, and the knowledge I have of Eternal Life and families. I love you Grandma.

The Fourth of July

We came home just in time to celebrate the Fourth of July. The kids went swimming, the guys BBQed, we played games, and set off fireworks. It was a party!
